PIC-PC (Parents In Control of the PC)

Free Download

To download 14 Days Free Trial, click Big Green Button below.

Download Instructions

  1. Check the PC's date is set correctly - if you change it during the free trial, the free trial will end. You need 'administrator' rights to install the software.
  2.  Existing/Previous users of versions prior to 2.50: See important note on our 'free upgrade' page before you upgrade .
  3. Click on the green button below. On the download dialog,  select  Run (or  'Save'  then  'Run') after the install file has downloaded.
  4. The install process will start automatically.
  5. Keep clicking 'next' to accept the defaults you are offered
  6. If you don't reboot, you need to start "PIC-PC Rule Settings" from the start menu or desktop.
  7. You will be guided through the initial set-up to get you started. You can go back and change any of your choices later.
  8. For multiple PCs on a home network, install PIC-PC on each one. Note that there is a big discount for extra licences, so this won't work out to be very expensive. If you are going to use our roaming feature without a NAS device, it's best to start with the 'master' PC (the one that will hold the time data and rules).  You can try it on just one PC at first, of course.

Current Version is V2.74.0

This is  suitable for  Windows 7, Vista or  XP.

(Contact us if you need Win98, Win2000, or others)

Please note - when you first run the software as a 'controlled user', you may get warning pop-ups from your anti-spyware software about keystrokes being recorded. This is part of the function of PIC-PC, so say to ignore.  The code is digitally signed, so you know it is from us, and why it needs to do that - it installs keylogging  hooks for controlled users (ie kids) even if you choose not to use that feature, so you can turn on the feature while the child is logged on if you so decide.

Free Upgrades for Existing Users

The software is in a state of continuous development. It is our policy to enable anyone to upgrade to the latest version at no charge and with as little disruption as possible.

Planned Free Upgrades

Improved logging and reporting.
User Interface improvements.

Other plans:  nicer child's view (more info on icon tooltip, etc.), and removing the need for elevated rights for rule setting application and the associated  annoying Vista pop-ups.

If there is anything you want to see included or changed in a future release, please contact us.
