PIC-PC Upgrade Notes

If you have ever installed PIC-PC before, please read carefully before upgrading

If your current version is V2.50.0 or later:

Windows Installer does not always succeed in replacing all the old files. We are investigating, but for now, we recommend running control panel \ add/remove programs and removing PIC-PC before running the install. You will not lose any PIC-PC data by un-installing and your licence key will remain valid.

If your current version number is lower than V2.48.0

For the first (and I hope last) time, we regret upgrading will not be a completely hassle-free exercise.
You will not lose rules, trigger keywords, program categories, or page title categories if you follow these instructions. Existing vouchers and time records will be retained. You will need to reset holiday dates. Childrens' 'voucher safes' will be retained unless you have a non-standard PC setup, in which case please contact us and we can tell you how to recover it.

Please follow the following instructions carefully on each PC in your home network used by your children or to be used by you to control remotely:

1. Download and run this small application. If you are using Vista, you will have to save it to a folder, right-click on migratepicpc.exe and select "Run as Administrator". Please note this utility is governed by the same licence agreement as the one you have entered into by installing PIC-PC, and your downloading of the utility implies your acceptance of this.
2. Uninstall the old PIC-PC using control panel / add/remove programs.
3. Install the latest PIC-PC from our download page.
4. Run the 'PIC-PC Setting...' program.
5. Check your rules are still intact (they should be, but we haven't tested every combination of rules with every 'old' version of PIC-PC.)

Your licence key will remain valid.

We allow all our licensed users to upgrade to the latest version for free, but...
