As I might have mentioned on the home page, I make characters who just happen to be birds - characters with their own shape and style. And name. Their names are important, as are their beliefs and discoveries.
I wanted the bird's name and characteristic to be kept between the bird and its owner. So a bird's name and characteristic remain in the box while the bird and its owner go out into the world together. (How the bird’s owner introduces their bird to the rest of the world is entirely up to them. Ivy and I regularly go out together as me and my bird, Fenulla Klatchen-Smythe.)
Each brooch comes in a black box with black velour insert and a fold-up lid. The bird’s message is inside the lid. The brooches are in the sort of 3-4cm range, and are £20. Please contact me if you would like to order any of them. May I introduce the current cast of characters:
Bertie hums happily, although the world seems deliberately bemusing
Betty loves reading in the bath
Cuthbert declares cabbage to be pointless
Elsie is worried by sheep
Eric would rather be reading his book
Ethel investigates the case of the missing teaspoons
Gracie wonders if a chocolate habit is a bad thing
Hilary discovers the unsteady joy of red wine
Hilda wonders where she left her knitting
Ivy wonders why clouds seem to follow her
Mabel truly loves her duvet
Molly politely admits to being a tea snob
Noggin decides that walking is more rational than flying
Penelope poses with elegant poise
Tilly imagines dancing with Mr Darcy
Brooches can be cleaned with liquid soap and warm water, or if very dirty with a little whitening toothpaste and warm water. Dry it and buff it to a shine with a soft cloth.
