- Smart screen shots
can take a 'snapshot' of the active window. Snapshots can be triggered
by keywords they type,
by a count of keystrokes being reached, or every new web page. You can set it to
only record those pages on which they
spend
significant time (you define how many seconds that is) ,
ignoring where they are just
'surfing through'. You can even capture only web pages with certain keywords
in the title. Most screen-grabber software
on the market
will rapidly fill your hard disk with so many useless or redundant
images that you won't be able to find what you are really interested in.
- Key
Logging
that you might turn on only for IM / Chat, or
email, for example. You can turn it on for any other activity too, if
you think it useful. Be aware it will capture passwords, so don't
enable this feature where use could result in fraud. Under Vista, key
logging will not occur when running Internet Explorer in protected
mode, but you can still take automatic screen shots.
- The
names of
programs they
run,
- Titles of web pages
they visit. Note that we log the web page
titles, as these are always a good guide to the site's content (because
the search engines use them, and web masters want to be found!). Other
parental control software logs URLs, but these are
often
quite cryptic, especially for undesirable sites.
Instant
Peek - Using your home network to look over their shoulder.
If you have PIC-PC installed on your PC too, you can use your home
network to view
live
screenshots of their
currently
active window, refreshed every 10 seconds. These are
displayed in a window that you can re-size or keep full-screen.
Why can't we look at logs over the internet?
- Most people are rightly wary of opening back-doors onto
their PC or Home Network.
- We are an ethical company and would feel uncomfortable
selling
software that would be so useful to criminals. If you own the PC, we
feel it is
unlikely you don't have some opportunity to access it via your home
network, or directly.
Remember to make sure your
intended use is legal - our licence agreement forbids illegal use.
In the event you are
accused of using the software in the commission of a crime, we will
co-operate with any police or court officer of any
jurisdiction including but not limited to disclosing your identity.
