PIC-PC  Parental Control Software for  Vista and XP

(Parents In Control of the PC)

Parental Control and Child Monitoring Software with Unique Time-Reward System.

Parental Control Software with a Difference

Now network-enabled for use on  a single PC OR over a home network
Now  includes option for children to 'roam' between PCs

Written in the UK, PIC-PC is designed for people who want something  more sophisticated than the usual "block this / ban that" or simple 'PC Time Limiter' parental control software. For example, while you can use it to 'block Facebook' say, you can also use it to limit Facebook use to certain times of day. The same applies to other web sites or programs. There are many activities that you don't mind your children using the PC for... just not for hours on end!  Of course if you want to block Messenger or other chat programs (or websites) you can. The unique ability to differentiate both programs and  internet use; into games, chat, educational, etc., as well as just 'banned' or 'allowed' gives you the control you need, by treating each activity differently, with different time limits and different levels of monitoring for any activity you are concerned about. You can limit games and IM etc., without limiting educational use of the PC.  Our unique Time-Rewards system lets you reward them without handing over money!
There are comprehensive   child-monitoring options (including real-time screen view, screen capture, key logging and stealth mode)  if you need them, plus some IM/Chat safety features (that work on web-based chat too!) including a chat-room censor that you can configure for yourself.

This software is aimed at  parents who are not only worried about on-line dangers but about their children being turned into bad-tempered zombies by too much supposedly 'safe' computer time.

Control

Control what they can do (on-line and off-line), for how long,  and at what times of day.

One or two other products will let you sort programs into categories such as games, educational, creative, chat, TV, etc. and apply rules to each category (as we do).  No other product lets you categorise internet activity too - so - for example - being on the 'Cartoon Network' or MiniClip websites counts as playing games. This means you can set time limits on web games that are more restricted than other Internet use (which they may need for homework). You can set weekly and /or  daily limits for total time spent on each activity or use our easy graphical control to set allowed times of day for each day of the week.  Set up to 8 available timeslots each day. Of course you can limit time on overall PC use too. Some customers only limit total PC time, but the more advanced features mean  you can limit games, chat, and entertainment without limiting the PCs educational uses.    There is even a 'take-a-Break setting, that will enforce regular breaks from the screen.Rules can be set from another PC on a home network.

Unique Time-Reward  Voucher System

Reward them with what they value most - computer time!

example voucherDid they do well tidying their room?  Give them customisable PIC-PC 'Time Vouchers' so they can 'buy' extra time on their favourite PC activities. Includes a line of text, choice of time values, and one of 5 images. Can also be given in paperless form (across the home network, if you like).

Targeted Monitoring Tools

Stealth Monitoring option. Screen Snapshots, Keystrokes and Program / Web Page Title logs viewable via home network. Remote real-time 'peek' option.

Worried about internet grooming, suicide chat rooms, hate / porn / gambling sites? - PIC-PC provides a complete toolkit including: Window SnapShots,  Key Logging, Page Title logging, Program Name logging.  Can be done in 'Stealth Mode' if you feel you need to. You can view activity logs across your home network. Because we categorise different computer activities, you can target these  tools by activity category so you don't get swamped with useless information.  Recognise Internet chat rooms, and monitor just like 'Messenger' conversations. Screen capture images can tell you much more than key loggers can. New: Remote 'Peek over Shoulder' option shows child's active window on your desktop, updated every 10 seconds. Can be viewed full-screen or re-sized to a small window.

On-Line Safety

In addition to using control mechanisms (e.g. restrict IM and web chat to times you are around) and the monitoring features - we have one more trick up our sleeve:- You can set up a list of keywords (e.g. your street name, your phone no.) and if your child types them during a defined activity (typically IM / Chat) PIC-PC will delete what the child has typed before it is sent, and send instead: "WARNING, THIS CONVERSATION IS BEING MONITORED".  It will also snapshot the current IM/ Web Chat window, so you can see  the context later.

BookFurther reading:
We recommend  How To Keep  Your Child Safe On The Internet  by Wendy Davies.  This e-book covers a broad range of topics in a clear, easily-understandable manner. It mirrors  our own philosophy, of not banning everything in blind panic at the dangers posed by the internet, but of understanding the risks (and helping your children understand them) and putting in place some sensible rules and safeguards. This is a sponsored link, but we have read and approved the book.
